First Aid and CPR Course

This course is designed to provide participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize and respond to a variety of medical emergencies. The course covers basic life support, cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR), and first aid procedures for adults, children, and infants. 

Course Goals and Objectives:

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

• Identify signs and symptoms of various medical emergencies, including heart attack, stroke, and choking.
• Demonstrate basic life support techniques, including chest compressions and rescue breathing.
• Perform CPR on adults, children, and infants.
• Administer first aid for common injuries, such as cuts, burns, and fractures.
• Understand the importance of clear communication with EMS personnel during an emergency.

I. Introduction to First Aid and CPR

• Definition of first aid and CPR
• Importance of first aid and CPR
• Good Samaritan laws and legal considerations

II. Emergency Scene Management

• Assessing the scene and ensuring safety
• Assessing the victim and determining the need for emergency care
• Activating EMS and providing clear communication

III. Basic Life Support (BLS)

• The ABCs of BLS: airway, breathing, circulation
• Chest compressions and rescue breathing
• Use of an automated external defibrillator (AED)

IV. Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

• Adult CPR
• Child CPR
• Infant CPR
• Modifications for special circumstances, such as pregnant women or victims with physical disabilities

V. First Aid Procedures

• Bleeding control and wound care
• Shock management
• Burns, including thermal, electrical, and chemical burns
• Fractures and dislocations
• Choking

VI. Special Considerations

• Environmental emergencies, such as heat stroke and hypothermia
• Allergic reactions and anaphylaxis
• Seizures and epilepsy
• Diabetes and hypoglycemia

VII. Review and Assessment

Certification: Upon successful completion of the course, participants will receive a certification card indicating their completion of the First Aid CPR course. Certification typically lasts for two years and requires renewal through additional training and assessment.
