Also this course covers the principles of service, maintenance & commissioning of refrigeration and air conditioning systems. It is based on the “Guide to good commercial refrigeration practice” which was written by the British Refrigeration Association and Institute of Refrigeration.

Module 1:

• Safety knowledge of Acetylene

• Safety Knowledge of Oxygen

• Company safety procedures

• Control of Substances Hazardous to Health Regulations (2002).

• Material Safety Data Sheets ? MSDS

• Approved Codes of Practice, • Permit?to?Work – Hot Works, Confined Space

• Transportation of Gas Cylinder Regulations

• Working in confined spaces ? what is a confined space?

• Types of gases used for brazing;

• What the law says

• Working on equipment containing Combustible & Toxic substances – Mustard Gas (Phosgene)

• Storage and handling of Oxy?acetylene equipment

• Personal Protective Equipment.

• Select, check, secure and use appropriate cylinders and equipment prior to brazing activities.

• Selection of adequate fluxes and filler material

• Flame settings and their effects

• Selection of brazing nozzles

• Overheating of base materials

• Carrying out brazing process in a safe & competent manner.

• Shutting down brazing equipment safely & correctly

• Cut tests – All joints will be cut open and inspected for 90% infill
