Japanese Language Course

Japanese language courses offered at A plus Education Center will be taught in a style that incorporates a balance of reading, listening, speaking, and writing.
Level 1 (introductory) is for those who are learning Japanese for the first time, and all six levels are offered in stages.

Each lesson is 90 minutes long, 20 lessons in total.

The textbook will be the "GENKI" series, which is widely used by Japanese universities and other institutions for foreign students studying Japanese.

GENKI is a 2-volume textbook with a full range of workbooks and teacher guides, as well as an audio application that can be listened to on a smartphone.

GENKI1 is used up to level 3, and GENKI2 is used for levels 4 and 5.

For example, a student who has already mastered hiragana and katakana and starts at Level 3, which is equivalent to JLPT N5, will use the same textbook as Level 1, "GENKI1".

One of the reasons is that it serves as a connection to "GENKI2" used in the next step.

Compared to the pace of learning one book in about 90 hours in Level 1, one book is learned in about 30 hours in Level 3.

The same system applies to Levels 4 and 5 of "GENKI2.

For Level 6, we will use "Textbook free" in order to respond to employment and diversifying interests and needs, from creative works such as haiku and drama, rather than focusing only on language skills such as "reading," "listening," "speaking," and "writing’’.

In other words, we do not use textbooks. The center uses “inquiry-based learning" (Project Based Learning), which is the next step after "listening and answering questions," which is the general type of learning, and is aimed at "investigating and explaining by oneself’’.

We will provide an environment where students can fully learn Japanese for as long as they wish to continue their studies. We will motivate students by providing preparation for the Japanese Language Proficiency Test and short-term study abroad programs.
