DurationThe programme is designed for those who are interested in exploring ways of developing high quality teaching and learning where students are empowered to take responsibility for their learning. Pedagogical issues will be examined and critically assessed from a theoretical and practical perspective.
Students will carry out a research project on one area of educational practice, the outcomes of which will be disseminated and have an impact on evidence-based approaches to learning.
Upon successful completion of this programme, students will be able to critically examine selected theory and practice of aspects of teaching and learning which meet personal and professional needs. Students will also select aspects of own teaching and learning practice by negotiating, planning and undertaking an action research project focused upon an evidence-based pedagogical approach.
Also, students will be able to demonstrate criticality, synthesis, deep reflection, and scholarliness of current educational research. They will incorporate educational research into their development as reflective practitioners and skilled self-managed learners who know how to improve their professional practice and look to develop a next steps approach.
The programme addresses the connection between teaching and learning and investigates various evidence-based pedagogical approaches to connect the two. Students will critically examine selected theory and practice of aspects of teaching and learning which meet the professional needs of their contexts. This programme will also encourage the development of educators as reflective practitioners and skilled self-managed learners.
Students are offered the opportunity to develop the necessary knowledge and skills for effective leadership and management in education. Students can also choose to develop an understanding of local and international SEND provision, strategy and policy, alongside developing their knowledge of other vital subject areas in education.
