Paediatric First Aid Safety Training Course is designed to focus on supervising, caring for, and keeping children and infants safe in babysitting settings. The program provides fundamental information in proper supervision, basic care giving skills and responding properly to ill or injured children or infants.

Who should attend

This qualification is aimed at those who wish to become a Paediatric First Aider in the workplace with a responsibility for the welfare of infants and children. This qualification is intended to learners already working or preparing to work in industry.

Course Topics:

- Introduction

- Fundamentals of supervising children

- Basic care giving skills

- Health Safety and Nutrition

- Child Growth and Development

- The role and responsibilities of an Paediatric First Aider

- Scene survey and Primary Survey on infants and children

- Managing and unresponsive Casualty

- CPR (child and infant)

- Chocking

- Shock including Anaphylactic shock

- Bleeding (severe and minor)

- Treatment of Seizures

Assessment: students are assessed throughout the course by instructor observation of the essential skills. There is also a summative assessment of knowledge and skills at the end of this course.

Certificate: HIGHFIELD certificate (UK), valid for 3 years for Paediatric First Aid & NAJMA certificate for Child Care Training valid for 3 years.
