PgMP Certification

The PgMP (Program Management Professional) certification is offered by the Project Management Institute (PMI) and is designed for experienced program managers.

PgMP certification demonstrates your ability to manage and oversee multiple related projects (programs) to achieve strategic business goals. Here are some key details about the PgMP certification:

Eligibility Requirements:

To be eligible for the PgMP certification, you must meet the following requirements:

1. Educational Background:

   • A four-year degree (bachelor's or equivalent) and at least four years of project management experience, including 4,500 hours of program management experience.
   • OR, a secondary degree (high school diploma, associate's degree, or equivalent) and at least seven years of project management experience, including 7,500 hours of program management experience.

2. Project Management Experience:

   • You must also have at least four years and 6,000 hours of project management experience if you have a four-year degree.
   • OR, at least seven years and 10,500 hours of project management experience if you have a secondary degree.

3. Program Management Experience:

   • You need to have at least four years and 6,000 hours of program management experience (if you have a four-year degree).
   • OR, at least seven years and 10,500 hours of program management experience (if you have a secondary degree).

4. Training Requirement:

   • You must complete at least 35 hours of formal program management education.

Exam Format:

The PgMP exam consists of 170 multiple-choice questions and is conducted over four hours. It covers five domains, which are:

• Strategic Program Management
• Program Life Cycle
• Benefits Management
• Stakeholder Management
• Governance

Maintaining Certification:

Once you achieve the PgMP certification, you must earn 60 Professional Development Units (PDUs) every three years to maintain your certification. Additionally, you need to pass the PgMP exam again every three years to recertify.
