- Material classification, metallic/non metallic, ferrous /non ferrous

- Metals and metal extraction

- Solidification of metals

- Basic terminology applicable to metals i.e. weldability, machineability etc.

- Explaining the meaning of forming, forging, hot & cold working, heat treatment , annealing, tempering, hardening

Iron & steel Metallurgy

- Iron and it s properties, wrought, cast etc..

- Iron – Carbon phase

- Steel & it s properties. Low, medium and high carbon steel

- Steels phase diagram

- Heat treatment and case hardening

- Steel alloys

- Steels for high corrosion application: stainless steel, Austenitic and super

- austenitic, duplex steel

- Steel and Iron standards applicable in Oil/Gas industry: ANSI, API, ASTM

 Steel grades, schedules and gauges

- Basic ASTM identification of steel

Nickel & Cobalt based metals

- Monel, Inconel, Hasttelloy, N-155 /200, Carpenter Stellite etc. their properties

- Application of Nickel & cobalt based metals

Non ferrous metals

- Typical non ferrous metals applicable for Oil/Gas industry i.e. brass,

- bronze, cooper etc..
